Mon Subedi was born in Sharbang Bhutan in 1980, the first of four sons born to Bal and Pabitra. Due to ethnic pressure on the Nepali population, Mon’s family moved to Nepal in 1992. They ended up living in a refugee camp in Sanichare, Morang, Nepal for eighteen years. In spite of difficult living conditions, Mon completed his school leaving certificate (SLC) from New Horizon Academy and  his higher secondary education at Panchayat Higher Secondary Board, Morang, Nepal. Mon’s strong desire to be a teacher motivated him to work on further education.
